My admiration for this marvelous Breed began with the purchase of 2 wonderful "Pet" Boxers from Catherine Lloyd of Balmar Kennels in Tryon, N.C. in the late 1960's. Becky and Cory grew up with our 6 youngsters and were always considered a major part of our young family. They would appear in their lovingly way on almost every early family photograph next to our children. In 1976, I first purchased from breeders Carole Connolly and Linda Huffman of the HUFFAND line an outstanding Show Prospect female pup. Heather was the love of my life. She would eventually become
BIS
BISS Champion Huffand's Highland Fling,
and the Foundation to my BENTBROOK line. I never
dreamed that I would be so fortunate to own such an outstanding bitch.
Heather became a Multiple National Futurity and Specialty Winner, Multiple
Best of Breed Winner finishing with 3 Majors and my very first Champion!
Early on in the Puppy Classes she caught the judge’s eyes in winning many
Grand Sweepstakes with her great handler, the late Chuck Steele.
Heather completed her Championship by finishing with 3 Major wins of which
two were 5 point Majors at Specialty shows. Heather's career finished
in grand style by winning 1st place in the 1978 ABC
National Futurity 12-18 class and 2nd in the National Specialty which was
the highest level of competition in New York.
Heather lived to the wonderful age of 14 years , spending her "senior" years in our home enjoying and playing with her children, her Grandchildren and her Great Grandchildren. It was through her exceptional qualities and great bloodline, combined with my continued years of careful selective breeding, that I proudly present Bentbrook's succeeding generations. All have been bred, loved dearly by me, as well as in many cases, owned by me to this present date. I am forever grateful to the late Carole Connolly and Linda Huffman, my mentors, for entrusting me as a "new-comer" this outstanding Boxer puppy.
Breeding Heather 3 times, she produced 3 Champions from which my BENTBROOK line began. In only two breedings, Heather produced 3 Champions from which my line started;
Ch. Bentbrook's Belle Cameron,
Ch. Bentbrook's Trade Mark
and
Ch. Bentbrook's Class Action.
It was with these immeasurable contributions that the BENTBROOK legacy began. Along with many years of very careful selective breeding and health testing , the progeny continue to remain among the outstanding Boxers today. Please go to the
Males and
Females
to view the continued succession of BENTBROOK winners throughout the years.
I
feel it is important to also give "Honorable Recognition" to my marvelous
plain/classic "non-champion" brood bitches and males who are equally as
outstanding and true Champions in my breeding program and in the whelping
box. They deserve, along with my Champion Boxers I have so proudly bred ,
much credit for their fine contributions to my line.
